2026 Great Give dates with photos of 2 greyhounds

The 2026 Great Give is a wrap, and we couldn’t have done it without you.

Thanks to the generosity of our wonderful community, we exceeded our $15,000 goal during the 2026 Great Give. Every donation, every share, every word of encouragement added up to real impact for the greyhounds in our care.

Your support helps us bring more retired racers into our program, provide the care they need, and match each dog with the right forever home. Because of you, more greyhounds will make that journey.

We are grateful beyond words. Thank you.

GIVE YEAR-ROUND

Why Your Support Matters

Every greyhound we place starts with a journey — often from racetracks in West Virginia, Ireland, the United Kingdom, New Zealand, or Australia. But getting them here — and ready for adoption — takes resources.

Your donation helps provide safe transportation from racetrack to foster home, veterinary care and health checks, food and daily supplies, and the support needed to match each dog with the right family. Without donations, fewer dogs make that journey — it’s that simple.

1,500+ Greyhounds Placed

Since 2005, CGA has helped over 1,500 retired racing greyhounds transition from the track to loving homes — each one a second chance at life.

And more are waiting. Your support helps us bring in — and place — even more greyhounds this year.

Your Gift Unlocks More

During The Great Give, every donation helps secure matching funds — turning your support into even more lifesaving impact.

What Your Donation Can Do

$25

Covers a bath and basic care after transport — helping a newly arrived hound settle in clean, comfortable, and ready for foster life.

$50

Helps cover essential medications and everyday care while a greyhound waits for their forever home.

$200

Covers routine veterinary care, including tests and vaccinations needed before adoption.

$500

Helps fund transportation from racetracks to Connecticut — the first step to finding a forever home.

Why Give During The Great Give

Your donation goes further during this event. Every dollar you give helps unlock additional matching funds through:

  • $100,000 matching pool from The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven
  • $10,000 match from The Konopacke Fund for animal organizations

The more individual donors we have, the more funding we can secure. That means even a small gift can make a big impact.

What Your Gift Supports

Your support directly helps us:

  • Bring more retired racers into our program
  • Provide medical care and rehabilitation
  • Support foster homes and volunteers
  • Match dogs with safe, loving adoptive families

Help a greyhound come home.
