Welcome to Abe's Corner. Abe was a CGA foster dog that never found his forever home. Here he, along with other beloved greyhounds will always be remembered. If you would like to submit a special hound to be remembered, please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org with the hounds name, racing name, birthday, bridge day, up to three photos, and your remembrance.
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Remembrance: He will never be forgotten and can never be replaced. We miss you and love you Ibe, your family.
Remembrance: It was an honor to be your family. Run free with Skye. All our love and thank you for the memories buddy! xxoo Lori, Tom & Grannie Linda
Remembrance: No longer by my side, but forever in my heart. Miss you deeply and will always love you Baby Girl!
Name: Silver Racing Name: Silver Spade Birthday: 11/04/99 Bridgeday: 01/22/12
Silver Spade was the B puppy, one of 3, born November 4, 1999. He raced at Plainfield until a week after his 5th birthday, at which time he retired and went to live with a family in Putnam, CT. At some point in late 2008, they returned him to the adoption group and I was privileged to give him his second home on Valentine’s Day, 2009.
Soon after he arrived in Exeter, RI we learned that he had Mast Cell cancer, which he conquered after surgery and with the help of Chinese Herbal medicines, going on to live almost 3 more healthy happy years with me and his canine brothers and sister. Silver died unexpectedly on the morning of January 22, 2012; the previous day he had been playing like a puppy in the snow. Although I, and his many friends and admirers, are heartbroken at his passing, what is important to remember about Silver is that he was a true champion in every way that mattered.
Silver was the most gentle Greyhounds I have ever known, his coat was soft as bunny fur and his patience and acceptance of every one and every creature he met won him an army of admirers. He loved going for a walk above all else, bouncing with absolute glee when the leash came out or Marge, ‘his neighbor’ came over to walk him. He was a perfect Greyhound—his proclivity to make off with General Tsao’s Chicken when he could was his only, very forgivable, flaw.
Silver had a grounding, healing aura which was felt by anyone who spent any time with him; he bonded with my other hounds in a way that was unlike any pack bond I had seen before. It wasn’t a matter of his being ‘alpha’, it was pure, simple love. I miss you so much Silverman, thank you for sharing part of your life with me. I’ll see you again someday… till then, you remain in my heart forever.
Name: Ben Racing Name: Decoy Ben Birthday: 07/27/04 Bridgeday: 06/08/12
Farewell, my friend Ben. May your trip over the Rainbow Bridge lead to an open meadow where you can chase squirrels and lie in the sun.You are missed.
Name: Cooper Racing Name: Albion Cooper Birthday: 06/08/03 Bridgeday: 06/23/12
Cooper was not only our first greyhound, but also our very first dog. He always had his tail wagging when he met new people and other dogs. Anyone who spent time around him always commented what a good boy he was. We enjoyed the four years we had with Cooper; they went by way too fast. He was always gentle with our children and followed us wherever we went.
We miss you and love you our “Good Boy”.
Name: Bracken Racing Name: Bracken Birthday: 05/08/01 Bridgeday: 09/27/11
My sweet boy Bracken, you were our first, the one that started it all. When Jesse saw you that day at the adoption kennel he knew you were the one. For the next 6 years you have filled our lives with excitement and wonderment and eventually shared this with first Mindy and late Peanut. You taught us all well. We will never forget the feel of your fur, the snuggles, and the little kisses. You are our big old gentle boy. Run free at the bridge and someday we will see each other again.
Stay safe Bracken and FLY! - Jesse and Chris
Name: Diablo Racing Name: Enablo Birthday: February 2000 Bridgeday: 6/29/12
Name: Olive Racing Name: Lady Ash Zos Birthday: August 2003 Bridgeday: 5/12/13
Diablo was our first Grey and a sweet big boy. He would lean against us so hard his feet would sometimes slip out from under him! We adopted our little Olive shortly after Diablo. Olive was as sweet and gentle as they come and would often be found cuddling with our daughter. They gave us their love and companionship for many years and loved to vacation with us on Long Lake in Maine. I know in my heart they are running and playing together with all of our pets that came before them. All our Love forever.
Name: Shea Racing Name: Sabik Birthday: 06/26/06 Bridgeday: 07/30/13
Shea, you were our first greyhound and our first dog together. Thank you for sharing the short time you had with us. You were a great companion and gentleman. We will never forget you and hope you are now at peace and chasing all of the squirrels and stray cats that you can. Love Cathy & Larry
Name: Rocky Racing Name: Fox Birthday: 04/17/03 Bridgeday: 12/10/13
Rocky's personality was one of loving, friendly, and outgoing. He was very inquisitive about what was going on around him. He enjoyed walks everyday; rain, sleet or snow. He was extremely loving to anyone he met. Rocky is greatly missed. He was "THE BEST KID".
Name: Pharoah Racing Name: KL Sundae Mass Birthday: 02/08/01 Bridgeday: 05/22/14
From the day you came into our lives you were so strong, so brave, and so proud. You diligently cared for your friend Gretel and accepted Mocha as a new friend. It was always hard for you to accept extra help even when you needed it but we never stopped offering. And although you were with us for a very short time, I hope you realized early on that we were your forever home and we would be there to the end. We will take good care of Gretel and Mocha for you. I hope the next time you see them you will finally be able to out run them. Thank you for letting us be your family... we will miss you very much.
Name: Bella Racing Name: Kalamata Birthday: 01/18/09 Bridgeday: 10/11/14
Kalamata was born January 18, 2009 and left us on October 11, 2014. 14 months prior to her death, she developed chronic seizures that occurred every couple of months and ultimately she never woke up from one. Her life was full of love and happiness however. She loved going for walks and never passed up the opportunity to go for a ride in the car. Her sister, Emmie, and her would run around the house playing with each other and loved their squeaky plush toys. She was a happy-go-lucky dog and I know she’s still playing in the big dog park in the sky. We love and miss you very much Bella Boo.
Name: Maxwell Casey Brinkman Racing Name: English Butler Birthday: 12/21/04 Bridgeday: 06/11/15
Our boy crossed the Rainbow Bridge today (6/11/15 at 12:40pm) after a brief struggle with lymphoma.
During his racing career of 60 races, he won 12 and placed in 3. He became a huge part of our family in December, 2008. Our handsome boy is sorely missed!
Name: Spartacus Racing Name: RHF Last Word Birthday: 11/05/14 Bridgeday: 10/30/14
My boy Spartacus, you are missed so much. You introduced us to the world of greyhound adoption and changed our lives forever. You were truly the best greyhound ambassador. It's because of you that I got involved, because you were such an awesome dog and friend. Not a day goes by that I don't think of you. Until we meet again my friend.
